The Sentinel Y3 steam shunting locomotive was sold to the LNER and to private industry. They were in service from 1927 to the end of B.R.Steam in the 1960's. A few survive on preserved railways as their economy and practicality are still of vaue today.

Coke ws a major fuel for industry and for private house heating. Many companies specialised in transporting it from gas works where most was produced to the end users. " Sun Cole" wagons could be seen country wide
